Family Support at Northstar Recovery Center
Loving someone with a substance use or mental health disorder can be confusing, painful, and deeply isolating. Whether your loved one is just starting treatment or has been on this journey for a while, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or alone.

Our Family Support Program
Weekly Family Support Groups
Northstar Recovery Center’s weekly family support groups are open to loved ones of current and former clients. These groups are a lifeline for many, offering:
Insight into addiction, mental health, and the recovery process
Practical tools for communication, boundaries, and self-care
A safe place to connect with others who truly understand your experience
A sense of belonging when you’ve been feeling alone
Many families develop strong bonds through these groups, staying connected outside of meetings for continued support.

What We Offer
Family Therapy Sessions
While your loved one is in treatment at Northstar, we also offer family therapy sessions facilitated by licensed clinicians. These sessions focus on:
- Healing communication breakdowns
- Addressing shared pain in a guided, safe setting
- Strengthening your role in your loved one’s recovery without losing yourself in the process
We meet family members where they are with care, respect, and a belief in the power of honest conversation.
